Penfuels have been manufacturing in Bangor, north Wales since 1992. We are local to Penrhyn Castle, Penrhyn Quarry and the spectacular vista of Snowdonia. We started manufacturing Penroc as an aromatic replacement for Lava Rock to the gas BBQ market. We have made and sold in excess of 2 million boxes/tubs and still produce thousands per year.

 

We adapted Penroc to Pengrill to serve the burgeoning takeaway and restaurant markets. Pengrill's distinctive shape, longevity and characteristics has made this increasingly popular with wholesalers, manufacturers and end users.

 

In 2008 we introduced our 3.5kg bag of Penbead, premier charcoal briquettes to the BBQ market. Penbead has found favour with BBQ'rs, chefs and the press. It's steady, long, hot, clean burn makes the ideal fuel for larger gatherings and larger size meat joints.

 

 In 2012, we were approached by a local Hotelier who had acquired a new charcoal hog roast. We supplied him with 300kg of Penbead. He used Penbead premier briquettes for his hog roast together with his metal decorative chimineas.

 He has since returned to us and continued purchasing his Penbead Hog Roast fuel.
